5 ban food store in Refrigerator

Merdeka.com - Most people think that all foods can be stored in the refrigerator. Some even think that the food that has long kept in the fridge is still suitable for consumption. However, there are some foods you should not need to be stored in the refrigerator because it could damage the nutrition in it. Here are five foods that should not be stored in the refrigerator, as reported besthealthmag.ca.

1. Onions

Storing peeled onions in the fridge can accelerate the decay of onions. If you are forced to do so, keep the onions in a covered container.

2. Watermelon

US Department of Agriculture found that watermelon will lose some antioxidants (lycopene and beta-carotene) when stored in the refrigerator.

"Antioxidants in foods susceptible to degradation if they are not stored properly," says Desiree Nielsen, a registered dietitian who lives in Vancouver.

3. Apricots, bananas, kiwi, peach, plum and mango

Canadian Produce Marketing Association says that apricot, banana, kiwi, peach, plum and mango just need to put on the table. In that way, we can still maintain their nutrients.

4. Tomato

Do not put tomatoes in the fridge! Why? Due to cold temperatures can make the tomato flesh becomes soft.

5. Potatoes

Potatoes should be placed in a dark and dry place. You can put them in a paper bag. Why paper? The paper will not make the potatoes rot quickly. And why not put it in the fridge? Storing potatoes in cold temperatures can turn starch into sugar, which can affect the taste and texture of the potatoes.

This is food that should not be stored in the refrigerator. Hope it is useful!
